The Home of Cricket has hosted the final each year since the competition began in 1972
The Cricketer Village Cup final will take place at Lord’s on Saturday, September 19.
The final, which has been played at the Home of Cricket each September since the inaugural tournament in 1972, was originally scheduled to be played on Sunday, September 13.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all professional domestic fixtures have been rearranged and the new date has been confirmed as Middlesex gear up to play their Vitality Blast home fixtures at Lord’s in August and September. Lord’s will also host the final of the Bob Willis Trophy in late September.
The Cricketer is extremely grateful to Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) for accommodating the final despite the challenging circumstances. The Village Cup final will be the only non-professional match played at Lord’s this summer.
As per the current Government guidelines, the match will be played behind closed doors without spectators.
The 49th edition of the Village Cup began on July 26, with 16 teams still competing for a place at Lord’s. The remaining dates for this year are as follows:
Round 5 – August 23
Quarter-finals – August 30
Semi-finals – September 6
Final – September 19
The Cricketer would like to place on record its heartfelt thanks to MCC and to our loyal sponsors: Pipers Crisps, ExtraCover Insurance, Bola.
