Dwaine Pretorius has been ruled out of South Africa’s white-ball series against England.

The allrounder, an important part of the Proteas’ limited-over setup, has suffered a hamstring injury that is expected to keep him out of action for between three and four weeks.

No replacement has been named, though his absence will open the door to one of several players in a 24-man squad lacking in international experience.

It will also increase the pressure on Andile Phehlukwayo to fill the bowling allrounder slot, with Lutho Sipamla, Junior Dala and Glenton Stuurman all alternative seam options should Mark Boucher opt to replace Pretorius with another seamer.

Otherwise, George Linde and Bjorn Fortuin are both included in the squad as spin options alongside the more internationally experienced Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi.

Elsewhere, South Africa A coach Malibongwe Maketa has also joined the Proteas camp as extra cover to assist the team.
